It was a MAJOR day…

That’s right – it’s Major Wessler, now! It was a whirlwind morning battling DC rush hour on the Metro with 5 adults and 3 children under 3 years of age. We had 5 separate groups coming from different directions, people driving into town over the previous 48 hours, security, and a 30 minute window. Movie sets are run this tightly!!

It all came together and, after an excellent ceremony, I was a brand new Field Grade Officer. My heart did stop for a brief moment when our guide told me that there was no photography allowed in the rotunda. I explained that my camera doesn’t have a flash and can’t take a flash photo even if I wanted it to and they acquiesced. I had to set my camera to “11” because it was so dark in the National Archives (they don’t want a lot of light hitting the Constitution), but I got some acceptable photos.

It was quite an honor to get promoted in front of the Constitution of the United States of America by no one less than my own Father. What a day. Photos are below!

Enjoy,
J

  1. Indeed it WAS a day to remember. The timing was perfect. We’re ALL so proud of you, MAJOR Wessler!!

  2. MAJOR Wessler,
GREAT photos — you never cease to amaze me with what you can do with a camera/computer. I would never have thought those pictures would have come out at all since it was so DARK in there.
It was a great event — I was proud and honored to be part of it — and I’m very proud of you.
    love ya,
    Dad

  3. Wow, Jacob. Looks like your grandmother got up at 3 in the morning to write you, and your dad got up at 6! Makes me look like a complete slackard to wait ’till Sunday evening to respond. YOU are certainly no slackard to make Major, though. The photos are great, but the really cool thing to me is the inscription in marble behind you stating “Constiution of the United States of America”. Not THE Constitution, or “This is the real deal”, just those simple words that mean so much. You make me proud to be….. your uncle Tony.

  4. What a great time – the girls and Lukas look adorable. You have an amazing family who loves you VERY much. God has blessed you.

  5. Congratulations Jacob! Toby and I are so proud of you! What a great location for the ceremony. The pictures look fantastic. Congrats again. P.S. look how smokin’ hot your wife looks in that dress! šŸ˜‰

  6. Beautiful pictures, beautiful family! Congratulations Major Wessler, we love you and are very proud of you.

  7. Woooohoooo! Major!! (I’ll second what Sonia said too – Tricia looks FABULOUS!! :))

  8. Major Wessler! Congrats from the Mahata-Halls. The whole family is just beaming in these images. I hope you soaked in every minute of the day – a true honor and a family affair as well
