Christmas Tree and the Blizzard of 2009

Greetings all!

It certainly has been a busy 6 weeks for the Wessler household! As you can tell by the lack of blog postings, we have been up to our ears with fun. Some highlights of the past 45 days:

1) Driving 1000 miles TWICE to visit family in Missouri for Thanksgiving – Abby did GREAT and behaved the entire way there AND back. She fell in love with “Sweetie” the parrot at the Indianapolis Embassy Suites hotel. She also had a great time seeing Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Wessler. Gran and Grandpa Wessler met us there and we made a mini reunion out of it.

2) Medical conferences for both Tricia and Jacob – I went to New Orleans (PTSD!!!) and Tricia went to Williamsburg. We did this the week after we got home from Missouri so there was very little time for us to…

3) GET A CHRISTMAS TREE – we went back to our local Boy Scout Troop and got a beautiful 9-foot tall tree. So full that we can hardly fit our ornaments on it. Abby got to hang the first ornament (see the pictures below).

4) Help-Portrait 2009 – Tricia and I participated in the Help-Portrait 2009 event. We took photographs of Pediatric Oncology families and provided enlargements. Turn-around time: 5 days. That’s a record for me. www.Help-Portrait.com.

5) BLIZZARD! We spent this weekend dealing with 22 inches of snow. That’s right – almost two freakin’ feet fell starting Friday at 9pm and ending some time early Sunday morning. We went out and played yesterday. Abby had a blast but the snow was so deep, she had trouble walking. I spent 45 minutes shoveling almost 2 tons of snow off our back deck so it wouldn’t collapse overnight (snow weighs about 8 pounds per cubic foot and we had almost 500 cubic feet on our deck). Spent another 45 minutes this morning digging Tricia’s car out of the driveway. I may take the parking tag off my car so the tow truck guys have to dig it out to tow it away. It’s almost worth the $150 bucks to get it back!! More pictures below.

6) Have spent a nice relaxing day today with a trip to Panera for lunch and then to Target for last-minute shopping. Tis the season.

Enjoy the pictures below. Thanks for checkin’ in on us.

Merry Christmas,
J

  1. Blizzard pictures! Can you believe all this snow! WOW. Thank goodness Chuck & Mike were home to dig us out. Hope dad makes it home tomorrow! Love your pictures! My favorite is Abby reading by the tree! She looks so tookie! Enjoy your pre-Christmas festivities!

  2. I LOVE them all! Each picture that came up I would say “Oh this is the one!” and then the next picture came up and I repeated it again, so I just LOVE them ALL. Well I think the one of Tricia and Abby playing in the snow—-no the one of Abby reading—no I think the one of Tricia holding Abby—oh for goodness sake I love them all!

  3. I always get so excited when I see you all have created another blog post! I love them! It looks like you all had a lot of fun in the snow last weekend too! We will actually have a white Christmas here as our snow still hasn’t melted! Abby is growing so quickly! I look forward to seeing you all next week! I hope my supervisor lets me leave on Tuesday!!!

    Love Always,

    Carley
