This. Â This is what I started with:
It came with the house. Â Those shelves in the back drive me nuts. Â No space to organize. Â Belts fall through the slats. Â It’s just not what I was looking for.
So I searched around and found EasyClosets.com. Â Input your closet dimensions. Â Play with the settings. Â BUILD A CLOSET!! Â It’s like Legos…but for adults…and with waaaaaay more work.
So the journey began!
Step 1 – ditch the old shelves:
So. Â Many. Â Drywall holes! Â Gotta patch those bad boys up. Â That’s Step 2:
It took two rounds of patching to get the holes completely filled. Â I’ve taped the ceiling and floorboards and added a layer of plastic for safety. Â Ready for paint.
Step 3: Paint!
Okay. Â That’s just the corners and edges.
Step 4: Keep Painting!
I’ve marked where the hanging rails are going to go. Â Next step, hang the rails! Â I couldn’t do the back wall yet because those vertical pieces were damaged in the mail. Â I was waiting for replacements to come but I could work on the sides of the closet!
Step 5: Rails
That was the scariest part. Â I measured twice, cut once on my FIRST CUT and still managed to mess up. Â Thankfully, EasyClosets had sent extra railing so I was able to recover. Â Things went well after that first mistake. After installing the rails, I just had to hang the verticals and install the shelves!
Step 6: Closet time!
Unfortunately, my replacement pieces ALSO broke but EasyClosets sent out replacements for those replacements without a second of hesitation! Â The third verticals…the third verticals stayed up!!!
I had already put my clothes into the sides so here is the finished closet:
Here’s a little gif of the build all blended together. Â It’s a bit big, file size wise, so it may take a second to load. Â Give it time!
And, lastly, here are some shots of the finished closet. Â I really enjoyed doing this and the customer service from EasyClosets was fantastic!!

It’s beautiful!! Great job, Jake! Two questions: where are all the bowties? and Why do you have the atrocious blue Christmas suit?
Bowties are in the top drawer! The “AWESOME” Christmas suit is for Christmas time…DUH!!!
