Family Vacation to the Shenandoah

During the first week in June, we took a trip to the mountains of the Shenandoah. We stayed in a cabin at Lydia Mountain and drove into Shenandoah National Park each day to hike on the Appalachian Trail and it’s nature trails along Skyline Drive. It happened to be my birthday that week, so Jacob and the girls made me an awesome cake that we ate by the camp fire that afternoon! Abby put her new birthday camera to good use that week, following in daddy’s footsteps. Ellie surprised us with her stamina and was able to keep up quite well with our daily 4-6 miles of hiking. It was beautiful weather and we enjoyed getting closer to nature for a few days…including a chance meeting with a black bear! He thankfully ignored us while we hiked quickly past him, twice! Here are a few photos of our lovely trip.
